GEORGE TUCKER -1952 -
The death occurred at Tisdale, Saskatchewan, Hospital, on June 20 of George Tucker, formerly of this district.
Born In Durham on September 4, 1864, a son of the late Walter and Mary McCallum Tucker, he attended school here and later farmed on the second concession of Glenelg, now a part of the Cluchey farm, until 1890 when he moved to Portage Plains, Manitoba.
In 1915 Mr. Tucker moved to Sylvania, Sask., where he continued farming until retiring about ten years ago.
In 1895 he was married to Ruth Lennox of Glenelg, who predeceased him many years ago.
The late George Tucker was a. strong, rugged man enjoying good health until three months ago when he was removed to Tisdale Hospital.
He was buried in Tisdale Cemetery on June 27 after service in St. Paul's United Church.
Of a family of six only one sister, Mrs. J. W. McKechnie (Mary) of Durham, survives.
He last visited his old home and, friends here five years ago.
[It doesn’t mention his marriage to Honora Raynes.]

GEORGE TUCKER [But this one does.]
Early Tisdale R.M. Councillor, G. Tucker, Passes June 20th
The death of George Tucker, of Willow Hill and Sylvania occurred in the Tisdale Hospital on June 20th. His demise severs one more link with the past and earliest days of Tisdale. Mr. Tucker attained the age of 89 years and was a pioneer of the Willow Hill district, settling there in 1903 along with his nephew, Alf. Simpson.
He cut his own trail to the homestead and hauled his household goods and farm equipment through bush and sloughs to start the making of a home and farm He was one of the first councillors when Tisdale was yet an L. I. D. [Local Improvement District] also one of the first trustees when Willow Hill S. D. [School Division] was formed. He also brought the first threshing machine into the district.
George Tucker was a kindly neighbor to all and took a keen interest in his community and its affairs. In politics he was a staunch Liberal.
His first wife, Ruth Lennox, predeceased him in Portage la Prairie, prior to his arrival in Tisdale and in 1910 he married Honora Raynes who died in 1938.
Advanced age and failing health compelled him to retire from farming and he moved to Sylvania about 1939, where he lived until his last illness.
Immediate relatives who mourn his loss are, Walt Simpson and Mrs. Ally Randall of Raymond, Alberta; Mrs. Mary Beason of Tisdale; Walter Tucker, M.L.A. of Rosthem; Mrs. Mary Simpson, Walter and Hugh McCrie and Mrs. Hugh McCrie.
Funeral service was conducted by Rev. S. R. Vincent in the United Church. Mrs. L. Cresswell sang "When The Day of Toil Is Done."
Pallbearers were Jas. Angus, Ross Jackson, Len Cresswell, Lorne Knuff, Jim Pearce and Kenneth Fitzgerald.

004295-95 George TUCKER, 30, farmer, Durham, Portage La Prairie, s/o Walter & Mary, married Ruth LENNOX, 26, Harvey, Glenelg Tp., d/o William & Allice, witn: William McNALLY & Allice LENNOX both of Glenelg on Feb. 19, 1895 at Glenelg Tp.

From the Durham Chronicle September 1900
We regret this week to chronicle the death of Walter Tucker, who departed this life on Sunday last at the ripe age of 62 years. At the age of twenty five years he came to Canada and lived in the vicinity of Toronto for about three or four years after which he moved to the township of Glenelg and settled on a farm about three miles this side of Princeville between which farm and Durham he made the road. passable for the requirements of pioneer traffic. After living on the farm for about 7 years he moved into Durham where, with the exception of two or three years residence in Egremont, he lived ever since. For many years he followed the trade of butcher, and through strict attention to business accumulated a fair share of this world's goods. The deceased was married at Woodbridge at the age of 29 years to Miss Mary McCallum , who predeceased him, about eleven years. The result of the union was six children, three sons and three daughters, all of whom are still living. The sons are James in Egremont and John and George at Portage La Prairie. The daughters are Mrs. David McCrie, near Durham, Mrs. John McKechnie near Rocky Saugeen and Mrs. James Simpson, who resides at McDonald, Manitoba. Mr. Tucker was a very genial, kindly disposed Christian gentleman, highly respected in the community and beloved by those who knew him best. He was Methodist in religion and a liberal in politics. For some time he had not been in good health and his departure at the last although somewhat sudden not unexpected. We tender our sympathy to the mourners, relatives and friends. The remains were interred Tuesday afternoon at Trinity church cemetery.
