Rosedale or Buchanan Cemetery
Sometimes called Mountainview Cemetery
on the SE28-15-15W, Municipality of Rosedale, Manitoba

[The following information was copied Sept. 14, 1962 from the tombstones and a map in the possession of Wilbert V. (Bert) Buchanan, RR 2, Neepawa, Manitoba, who farmed the quarter section where this cemetery is located. The old map burned in a house fire in 1952 and had been kept up to date. The map existing in 1962 was from the municipal office in Neepawa and was slightly out of date. The cemetery measures 205'9" from south to north and 195'6" from east to west. The plots are numbered from 1 to 11 from south to north and from I to X from east to west. Each plot measures 16' by 16'. The names of the owners of the plots shown on the map are given in capital letters, followed by the tombstone inscriptions. Bill Buchanan]

George Watson Family Tombstone Inscriptions
from the Cemetery just South of Millet, Alberta

[I have no copy of the map of this cemetery, but the family tombstones are easily located. They are near the center of the cemetery and two large trees are by the headstones of George Watson and his wife Agnes Jane Welsh. The other family tombstones are south and east from there.]

In Memorium - Agnes Jane Watson - May 26, 1841 - April 23, 1923 - Deeply Mourned

In Memorium - George Watson - Mar. 26, 1841 - April 23, 1923 - Deeply Mourned

Deeply Mourned - Margaret Ann Sheffield - born Feb 14, 1876 - died April 6, 1941

In Memorium - George Allan Watson - Mar. 15, 1872 - Feb 8, 1941 - Deeply Mourned

In loving memory of Richard J. Watson - 1878 - 1957

The cemetery map in the Millet town hall shows another Watson plot next to Dick's on the south side and another behind Maggie Sheffield's. It was believed that Ralph Watson is buried in one of these, but Terry Adams says he is buried in Ohio.

[George Watson was a brother to James Watson jr. who married Jane Buchanan. He was also a brother-in-law to John Buchanan and Samuel Buchanan who immigrated to Canada from Ireland in 1847. Maggie [Margaret], Allan, and Dick [Richard] were children of George and Jane Watson. Ralph was Allan's son. The George Watson family were pioneer settlers in the Portobello district west of Millett, Alberta around the turn of the century.]
